Digihike

An Erasmus+ Sport project in which we take part as partners together with Trekkify from Italy, FIE from Italy, ACDS from Portugal and OBC from Croatia.

DigiHike was designed to support new forms of tourism, with remote and rural areas at the centre of travellers’ interest.

Its aim is to promote so-called Adventure Tourism, a niche type of tourism that involves exploration and may require special skills and physical effort.

Adventure tourism is essentially connected to the natural environment and can be a way of building sustainable communities, encouraging tourists and travellers to visit remote areas and supporting local economies. In fact, not all adventure tourists are experienced explorers or hikers; on the contrary, many of them are regular tourists looking for exciting and unusual trips.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Support the promotion of grassroots sports (hiking and outdoor mountain sports)

Develop a network of organisations active in promoting outdoor activities and sustainable tourism.

Develop volunteers’ hiking-related hard skills and digital competences.

Respond to the needs of staff and volunteers of organisations active in rural development and outdoor activities

Encourage environmental awareness and the conservation of the natural spaces where outdoor activities take place.
