Project

Vozara

The project “VozAra – Getting Aragon’s rural youth moving” aimed to promote the democratic participation of young people aged 16 to 25 from rural Aragon. Several activities were carried out to get young people involved.
About the project
First, online training sessions with young people from the 3 provinces of Aragon covering 3 themes: European green policies and fake news on green issues, the Circular Economy and free digital tools. The aim of this first phase was for rural young people to be better informed, training them on relevant environmental topics so that they could act as antennas and share knowledge among their peers.
In addition, all the knowledge and information covered during the training sessions has been uploaded to several open-access digital platforms, so that it can be shared beyond the young people involved in the training and their local communities. These digital platforms have their own VozAra project space and make it possible to keep sharing knowledge and building community once the project has ended. The VozAra project also included another phase with in-person events, attended by young people from rural areas in all 3 provinces of Aragon, where the most important points covered in the training were shared, participants were given access to all the online content, and active exercises were carried out to find creative solutions to environmental problems.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

01
Raise young people’s awareness of fundamental rights and shared European values, with a focus on sustainability and the environment.
02
Develop young people’s digital skills and media literacy, providing tools and knowledge especially related to detecting fake news on green issues and broadening the ways they check information.
03
Bring together young people and decision-makers at local and regional level, through ongoing training of the group of antennas/ambassadors and by facilitating connections between local stakeholders.
04
Strengthen a network of young people who take an active part in the civic and democratic life of their immediate surroundings, creating digital and personal spaces that connect young people from different districts.
05
Encourage critical thinking and civic participation among young people in the digital sphere, enabling them to tell reliable information from online disinformation on sustainability and environmental issues, and motivating them to be agents of change in spreading responsible messages online.
06
Promover la participación juvenil y la búsqueda colectiva de soluciones a los retos ambientales de los territorios rurales.

RESULTS

30 young rural antennas/ambassadors trained in European green policies, fake news detection and the circular economy through online training that will improve their digital skills.
Resources and relevant information for developing the critical thinking of the 180 young participants, as well as their democratic participation and defence of the environment, starting with caring for their own territories.
Development of an open-access platform/website to hold all the information gathered during the project and the events, designed to continue over time through the antennas/ambassadors who will keep it active and up to date, helping the community to keep growing.
